It is hard to believe that it has been nearly 4 years since we last did a family session with our wonderful grandparents, Mema and Papa.  They are just as in love now, if not more, than when we last photographed them (link from 2009).

We met up with Mema and Papa on their land in Inman,SC just a couple of days before they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.  They are a great example of what it means to have a Christ-centered  marriage and we look up to them greatly. We appreciate the role they play in our lives and feel blessed to know such amazing people. We hope you enjoy some of our favorites from their session. Mema and Papa, we love you! Cheers. [M]

I love this last image that captures a portion of their land. Perfect, huh?

Our goals with each session are typically the same. We want to have as much fun as possible while capturing something special both for the individual/couple as well as their family. With this photo shoot, we are the family which makes it that more special for us. We love every opportunity we have with these two fine folks. Talk began back in March concerning when we would have their next photo session. Well, we got busy and time passed as it always does and before we knew it, it was August. We knew this was something important to us, so we picked a date and sure enough it rained each date we picked for about 3 weeks, until finally we found a beautiful evening.

As Vernice and I think about where we want to be 50 and 60 years down the road, we always think about Papa and Mema and their love for one another. Vernice and I love our youth and cherish where we are currently as a married couple, but it is exciting to think about being parents and grandparents one day. When we get to that point, we know who we want to be like, and that sweet couple is our grandparents. Papa and Mema are wonderful grandparents and have such a positive influence in our lives.

Here are a few of our favorites from our latest session with Papa and Mema. Cheers.[M]

They have such a scenic gazebo.

Papa looked at us while we were taking these pictures and said, “You sure do have a beautiful grandmother.” We definitely concur.

The light was incredible that evening.

Papa’s grandfather was born in this house in 1862.

Love this shot.

I want to share with you all two very important people to us. I am speaking of our grandparents, David and Ramona Settle, better known to us as Papa and Mema. As I reflect on love and friendship, I can’t think of a better example than our grandparents. They have been married for 57 years. What an adventure 57 years of marriage must be like. Getting to wake up to your best friend and the love of your life for that long must be a true blessing. Putting God first, loving each other to its fullest, and trusting that hard work pays off, these two have lived quite a life.

I often refer to Papa as my hero. He is the type of man that I strive to be. His humility as well as his compassion for others separates him from most. He lives and loves with a pure heart and his wife, his angel, our grandmother is his true passion.

Mema is a special lady who is full of grace, love, and kindness. Her beauty is both inside and out, and it’s a privilege to know her. Her story is powerful. She met the man of her dreams when she was just 18 years old. Throughout all these years, for her, it was always him, our grandfather.

As you look through these portraits of our grandparents, you will see a beautiful couple and their timeless love. [M]

These make us smile every time we look at them.

This image speaks volumes. I absolutely love it.
