Our Savannah Trip

Vernice planned an amazing birthday weekend for me in Savannah a few weeks ago. If you have never been to Savannah, you must add it to your bucket list. The last time Vernice and I traveled there together was back in 1999. It had been way too long and we knew that we needed to get back to this great city. We stayed at the Westin Golf and Spa Resort. We highly recommend it! Here are a few highlights from our wonderful trip. Cheers. [M]This was taken from our hotel room and as you can see, River Street was only a ferry boat ride away.We were also celebrating Memorial Day!Best pizzas ever… the size of your face! Ha.I think Vernice secretly planned this whole trip around Paula Deen’s restaurant! Baby, thank you for all of your love! No way are we waiting another 11 years to get back there!

Brenson Turns One

Vernice and I have very much enjoyed being aunt and uncle the last year to our wonderful nephew, Brenson. He recently had his 1 year birthday party and we were there to capture the festivities. I am in the middle of a great book and I thought I would spend two seconds blogging about it. Annie Leibovitz has become an inspiration to so many over the years. Her talent as photographer is mind blowing and its neat to read about someone that has devoted their entire life to this wonderful craft. Happy New Year from the Hammetts! Can you believe it is 2010? This is going to be a wonderful year and Vernice and I are so excited about our upcoming weddings and photo shoots. We have some really cool stuff lined up for the year. Hammett Photography had such a positive year in 2009 and we’re going to take this week to look back on some of its highlights. Clemson University Football | Thank You, CJ!

As many of you know, we are practically in love with Clemson University. It’s hard to explain the passion we have for the University. It’s where I shared a lot of fun times with some of my best friends, it’s where I obtained my master’s degree, and it’s where I where I asked Vernice to marry me; it has a huge place in our hearts! One of our favorite things to do is watch Clemson football. Someone that we have grown very fond of is CJ Spiller. It has been quite an honor watching his career at Clemson blossom. Humbled and talented beyond words, we have been blown away by CJ Spiller for 4 incredible years. He is type of person that people want to pull for because he always gives credit to others and is always so thankful. He is a role model and his leadership has been an inspiration to many. He is the most explosive player in college football. Yes, that is a fact.

As Clemson gets ready to bid farewell to CJ, the Hammetts want to join in with so many other fans by saying thank you for representing Clemson with honor and integrity. May God continue to bless your career. Please know that you have the best fan base in the world supporting you! Go Tigers!

Our Weekend in Atlanta

Vernice and I just got back from a long weekend in Atlanta, GA after attending an amazing workshop with the Professional Photographer’s of America. As we continue to grow our business and prepare for 2010, we knew this would be a great opportunity for us. The legendary Ann Monteith and Carol Andrews were our instructors and we learned so much from them. Clemson won their football game, I won my fantasy football this week and we kept the ball rolling as we headed to the Georgia Aquarium and the Coca-Cola Factory. What a wonderful weekend and I got to spend it with the love of my life. Here are a few shots from the aquarium and the Coca-Cola Factory. Cheers. [M]

Hello all! I hope everyone is staying warm and cozy!

I just wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU for all the support from our blog readers. You guys have been absolutely amazing! Matthew and I feel so blessed that we have such positive people that truly care about our photography and growing business. From the blog comments to the 1, 013 (and counting) fans on Facebook, you all have shown such great encouragement. The love definitely drives our determination to make Hammett Photography a success and we are forever grateful.

As Matthew was editing last night, he came across this awesome picture of Brenson. He found it at the right time because, I was just about to give my ‘There is not enough hours in the day! How are we ever going to get all this stuff done?!’ nightly monologue. The image instantly made me smile and seeing Brenson’s adorable face jolted me back to why we love photography so so so much. It’s that undeniable rush you get when you see someone you love captured in a unique way. The picture is good, yes … but, it’s the story behind it that makes it amazing. It’s the history and the future all wrapped into one. Isn’t that great?! Isn’t that what it’s all about?!

There’s more to come from Brenson’s fun photo shoot … so stay tuned! We hope this photograph of our nephew makes your cold and rainy day a little brighter. Matthew and I are a little biased but, it made our whole entire year. [V]

Our Wonderful Grandparents

Our goals with each session are typically the same. We want to have as much fun as possible while capturing something special both for the individual/couple as well as their family. With this photo shoot, we are the family which makes it that more special for us. We love every opportunity we have with these two fine folks. Talk began back in March concerning when we would have their next photo session. Well, we got busy and time passed as it always does and before we knew it, it was August. We knew this was something important to us, so we picked a date and sure enough it rained each date we picked for about 3 weeks, until finally we found a beautiful evening.

As Vernice and I think about where we want to be 50 and 60 years down the road, we always think about Papa and Mema and their love for one another. Vernice and I love our youth and cherish where we are currently as a married couple, but it is exciting to think about being parents and grandparents one day. When we get to that point, we know who we want to be like, and that sweet couple is our grandparents. Papa and Mema are wonderful grandparents and have such a positive influence in our lives.

High School Sweethearts in San Fran

As you all may know, Matthew and I traveled to San Francisco in July for our summer vacation. We booked a session with the wonderful Kate Harrison while on our trip. Here are our favorites … although, it was truly tough not to post every single picture on here!

Kate, thank you so much for everything! You have such a kind heart and uplifting spirit which are exemplified in your craft. We are big fans of your photography, but more so your passion to capture the good stuff. Until we meet again, old friend … cheers! [V]

San Francisco, baby!

Matthew and I have been wanting to go to San Francisco since we’ve been together. So, ten years later … we went! It was an amazing trip and we have already decided we are definitely visiting this great city again. Here are some highlights of our summer vacation. We hope you enjoy!

We stayed at the Westin St. Francis in Union Square. The city had a bunch of artwork around the plaza and we found this really cool heart. It was the first picture Matthew took and naturally, I’m in love with it.

We loved Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf! There was so much to do there and had the best atmosphere.

Our friend, Fernando. Yup. I name ALL animals we see. And not just on vacation … ask my husband about it.

What’s a trip to San Fran without visiting The Rock?! We took a bunch of pictures at Alcatraz … this is my favorite that Matthew snapped during our tour.

I wish we could have spent more time in Chinatown … perhaps next time. Of course, I have no idea what this sign reads. Hopefully nothing too offensive.

The Golden Gate Bridge: beautiful, immaculate … and apparently, my biggest fear. Matthew and I walked the 1.6 miles across this amazing bridge, and I was terrified almost the whole entire time! It wasn’t until about three steps from getting to the other side that I let go of my fear of heights.

I’m so happy I made it out ALIVE!

My handsome husband, cool as a cucumber. He could have stayed up there for several more hours!

This is the theatre where we saw the Broadway show, ‘Wicked.’ Amazing. We highly recommend seeing it.

After some yummy sushi for lunch, Matthew and I sat curbside and watched the cable cars go up and down the street.

On our last day, we had several hours before our shuttle picked us up to head to the airport. So, we had a mini photo shoot around Union Square.

Any model agencies checking out our blog, I am Matthew’s official manager. I get 80% …

Our trip to San Francisco was a blast! Matthew and I could have definitely stayed longer. On a side note, we met up with an amazing photographer to capture a fun time in our lives. Many thanks to Kate Harrison … we can’t wait to see the end results!
