Grant is Coming Soon

Well, folks tomorrow is the big day! We are being induced in the morning and are so excited for Grant’s arrival. God has been so good to us and I am quite thankful for my beautiful wife and son! Here is a look back at some of the pictures from our pregnancy.

Also, I decided to include an excerpt from my ‘letter to Grant’ that talks about his sweet mama.

“There is no coincidence in your arrival. Your mom and I have been praying for this day for some time now. At 16 years of age, I met the woman of my dreams and I could not be prouder to have her as my wife. Simply put, she is incredible. Her love is like no other and I know you two will always have a special bond. She is beautiful, smart, driven, and has such a compassionate heart. I can’t wait to see how similar the two of you are. When you become old enough to date, I hope you are able to find someone as special as she is.”

Our Gender Reveal Party!

Hey y’all! Matthew and I wanted to share several fun pictures from our gender reveal party yesterday. Our dear friends Chad and Loren were the gracious hosts and they did a wonderful job with everything! We’re trying to convince Loren to be a party planner full time … she’s just that good, people! We actually had our gender ultrasound Wednesday afternoon … so Saturday seemed like forever away! We asked the tech to enclose a couple pictures showing either girl or boy parts in an envelope. We had supper with Chad, Loren, and Landry that night and gave them the envelope. The next day, they had Bob the baker at Publix take a quick peek at the ultrasound pictures so he knew whether the inside of the cake would be pink for a girl or blue for a boy!

Saturday morning finally rolled around and we were absolutely ready! Chad and Loren came over around 10 am and started decorating … Matthew and I were completely blown away! Every detail was perfect. Several of our family members that we invited arrived at 11:30 am and we cut the cake shortly after! The inside had a thin, baby blue icing line in the middle. We’re having a precious boy! Matthew and I are thrilled that we were able to share that awesome moment with our family!

We cannot express enough how excited we are! Matthew and I feel so blessed and cannot wait to meet our little man in January!

Loren hand made the pink and blue paper flower balls and the super cute ‘Baby Hammett’ banner! She also special ordered the balloons. She had two of our ultrasound pictures (that were not gender specific) in cute frames … of course, pink for a girl and blue for a boy! What did I say about the details?! PERFECT!The tally. And yup … Lo made the chalkboard frame!

Matthew and I wanted to share our exciting news … we’re pregnant! Our sweet baby is due January 2, 2012 and we are beyond thrilled. Many thanks to our wonderful family and friends for all the love, prayers, and immense support. Our hearts are full and we both feel absolutely blessed. God has shown us so much grace and He has definitely taught us to be patient. Matthew and I are truly grateful. We are overjoyed and elated. We are completely and utterly in love with our precious miracle.

Matthew, Happy (early) Father’s Day. You’re going to be the best … just like your Daddy. I know he is so proud of you. Me and Baby love you forever and always.

Loving Married Life

Today marks our 4 year wedding anniversary! We began talking about what it would be like to be married to each other when we were 16 years old. We had the pleasure of being high school sweethearts and it was a lot of fun getting to know Vernice at an early age. We’ve always had this amazing type of chemistry together and I can’t quite put into words how much she means to me. I often refer back to June 9, 2007 as the best day of my life and when I close my eyes, it’s easy for me to see the woman of my dreams walking down the isle that day. Vernice was absolutely gorgeous and at that moment, I couldn’t figure out what I did to deserve someone like her. She took my breath away and she still has that ability every time she walks into the room. Sweetheart, I love you so much and I am truly thankful for our relationship! I want to celebrate at least 70 more of these anniversaries together! Cheers. [M]

Our Baltimore Trip!

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Baltimore, MD for the ACPA Conference representing Wofford College. It was a great trip and I enjoyed seeing several familiar faces. I was happy to have Vernice to come back to after many program sessions and socials. We were able to scope out the city and loved our short visit. Hopefully the chilly weather didn’t follow us back home. We are definitely ready for warmer temperatures! Cheers. Miss Us?!

The past four months have been crazy busy for Matthew and I … mainly because we were in the process of building a house! We broke ground October 21, 2010 and finally moved in on February 11, 2011. We are pretty much all settled in with only a few more boxes to unpack and organize. Matthew and I love being homeowners and are enjoying spending time together in our new home.

Many thanks to all our wonderful family and friends for your gracious support! And to our faithful blog readers, we promise to get back on track! Thank you for your patience!

Our Jamaica Trip

Happy Friday, Mon! So, we did things a little bit differently this Thanksgiving as Vernice and I decided to take a trip to Jamaica with our best friends, Chad and Loren. We were introduced to them at the beginning of last year and had the pleasure of photographing their wedding in Charleston, SC. Their honeymoon trip was to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. For an entire year and a half, we have listened to them talk about how great this resort is and so we knew it was time for us to find out for ourselves.

From the minute we stepped off the plane, we were taken care of in the best way possible. We spent 6 days in true paradise as we sat on the beaches of sunny Jamaica in complete awe of our beautiful surroundings. It’s hard to pick a favorite thing about the trip because it was all so great, but I can say that we talk about it on a daily basis. We made many great memories that week and we are thankful we could experience it with two people that have become such an important part our lives.

Personal | Our Chicago Trip

Vernice and I recently traveled to Chicago for a quick weekend getaway. It just so happened the Dave Matthews Band was performing at Wrigley Field the same time we were in town so, we decided to fit the Friday and Saturday night concerts into our schedule. There’s sarcasm here, just in case you didn’t pick up on it! WE LOVE THAT BAND! Here are a few photos documenting our fun trip to the windy city. Vernice said we have to plan a longer vacation next time just so she could have at least two days shopping on Michigan Avenue. Cheers. The Hammetts Take On Canada!

Vernice and I were very privileged to have traveled to Canada a few weeks ago for Dianne and Brandon’s gorgeous wedding. We were able to go sightseeing before the couple’s nuptials and took several photographs along the way as tourists. We have always wanted to go to Niagara Falls to witness one of God’s amazing creations. Many thanks to the newlyweds for allowing us to experience such a beautiful place and giving us a chance to mark this off our ‘to do’ list. Cheers! [M]My beautiful wife enjoying the falls!
